Day 2 10 Oct Saturday Arrival in Saigon

Day 3 11 Oct Sunday Mekong Delta Tour
- After breakfast we leave the bustle of Saigon behind and set off for the Mekong Delta.
- On arrival in the Mekong Delta – a world that lives and works on water – we take a boat trip to see life on the Mekong River.
- We go ashore in an island village and visit a family workshop that makes various coconut products. We taste freshly picked seasonal tropical fruit and watch a local folk-music performance by amateur musicians. We then continue our journey on foot through the shade of the orchards and by motorised cart (tuk-tuk) along the village road. To experience river life more closely, we board a rowed sampan on a canal shaded by palm trees, a branch of the Mekong River.
- For lunch we will enjoy local specialities such as elephant-ear fish, rice balls and coconut-heart salad. After the tour we will be transferred back to the hotel and have free time.

Day 4 12 Oct Monday Saigon City Tour & Cu Chi – Flight to Danang
- After breakfast: the Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the old Post Office, the moving War Remnants Museum, and the lively Ben Thanh Market, piled high with everything Saigon residents commonly eat, wear or use, as well as souvenirs in equal abundance.
- We then stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
- After lunch we head into the lush countryside of the Cu Chi district to visit the legendary tunnels. First built in 1948 to provide shelter against French air and land attacks, the network served as communication routes, storage facilities, hospitals and living quarters for Vietnamese fighters throughout the Second Indochina War. The tunnels once stretched to roughly 250 km and, at their peak, sheltered more than 16,000 guerrillas. If you are interested, you can even climb down into the tunnels to learn more about the harsh conditions the guerrillas living there faced.
- After the tour we transfer back to the hotel to collect our luggage and head to the airport for our flight to Danang.

Day 5 13 Oct Tuesday The Ancient Town of Hoi An
- After breakfast the coach will transfer the group to the ancient town of Hoi An, where we will have free time.
- We begin exploring Hoi An, the capital of Southeast Asian trade from the 15th to the 19th century and a UNESCO-protected, exceptionally well-preserved town. Known as Vietnam's most atmospheric and peaceful town, Hoi An is famous for its two-storey houses built in Chinese and Japanese architectural style, its charming streets, cafes and many temples. Among the sights we will see on our tour are the Japanese Bridge, built by the Japanese in the 16th century and still standing today, the Chinese Assembly Hall – Hoi An's oldest Chinese meeting hall – and the Hoi An Museum, which sheds light on the Vietnam War.

Day 6 14 Oct Wednesday Ba Na Hills & Golden Bridge → Hanoi
- After breakfast we set off for the Ba Na Hills, about 70 km from the hotel. On arrival at Ba Na Hills we board one of the world's finest cable cars. As we rise into the air, we take in the enchanting view of the Golden Bridge. We then marvel at the grandeur of the giant hands that appear to lift the bridge to a height of 1,414 metres above sea level. Built from thick wooden beams, the bridge has an elegant appearance as it gleams in the sunlight, resembling a silk ribbon hidden among the clouds. After a break we have a buffet lunch at the restaurant. We continue exploring the mountain-top complex's other famous attractions:
- Linh Ung Pagoda, Linh, Phong Tu Tower, the Debay Wine Cellar, the French Village, Le Jardin D'Amour, Fantasy Park, the Alpine Coaster and more.
- In the afternoon we descend and head to the airport to fly to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.

Day 7 15 Oct Thursday Ninh Binh & Trang An
- After breakfast we leave the hotel for Ninh Binh, a 2-hour drive from Hanoi.
- We arrive at the dazzling Bai Dinh pagoda complex, the largest pagoda in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
- It sits in a natural setting on the slopes of Dinh Mountain, surrounded by the breathtaking views of the magnificent river valley below and the limestone karst formations that encircle it.
- This pagoda complex is home to a series of the largest and most magnificent architectural examples of Vietnamese tradition, and a full day is needed to explore it all.
- For this reason, you will visit several sites of national significance:
- 500 stone "La Han" (Arhat) statues,
- two giant bronze bells weighing 27 and 36 tonnes. Visit the statue of Quan Yin with a thousand arms and eyes, and the statue of Gautama Buddha. Afterwards we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy the local speciality of goat-meat dishes.
- After lunch our tour continues with a boat trip in Trang An, an extraordinary natural beauty of 20 square kilometres of majestic limestone mass rising dramatically from the rice paddies.
- Deep within the high mountain ranges lie mystical valleys, countless freshwater ponds and forested areas. Gently paddling a traditional sampan along the river, we will pass through numerous caves such as Lam Cave, Vang Cave, Dai Cave, Thanh Truot Cave, and the temples of Cao Son, Suoi Tien and Vu Lam.
- We will then visit Mua Cave and set off on an incredible hike to the summit of Ngoa Long Mountain to admire the magnificent rice valley and this unique natural landscape.

Day 8 16 Oct Friday Halong Bay Cruise
- This morning we will be picked up and driven by road to the magnificent Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- On arrival, we will board a beautiful vessel for an overnight cruise.
- From the comfort of the ship, we will discover the incredible setting of the thousands of islands and islets made famous by the film Indochine.
- We will lose ourselves in the tranquillity and beauty of the unique seascape formed by the magnificent rock formations rising from emerald waters.
- We will also have the chance to try our hand at swimming and kayaking. In the evening, once the ship is anchored in the middle of the stunning lagoon, we will enjoy a wonderful seafood dinner and afterwards have the opportunity to go fishing with the crew.

Day 9 17 Oct Saturday Halong → Hanoi
- Waking up to a magnificent view, we energise for the new day with a Tai Chi session, and after freshly brewed coffee and a local breakfast we head back towards the shore. Along the way, the ship passes among oddly shaped rock formations that invite comparisons ranging from fighting cocks to dragons and beyond! We disembark at around 11:00 and return to Hanoi at around 15:30. We transfer to the hotel and have free time in Hanoi.

Day 10 18 Oct Sunday Hanoi City Tour & Return
- After breakfast we check out of the hotel, leave our luggage there, and set off on our city tour.
- We begin our full-day tour of Hanoi. Vietnam's capital celebrated its 1,000th anniversary in 2010.
- The historic importance placed on art and learning means that Hanoi's buildings have remained small, simple and in harmony with nature.
- We begin by visiting the Ho Chi Minh monument complex, including the Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace and the house on stilts.
- We visit the One Pillar Pagoda and then the Temple of Literature, encountering two driving forces of Vietnamese culture. We also visit Hoa Lo, a former prison. Originally built by the French, it was later dubbed the "Hanoi Hilton" by American prisoners of war.
- After the tour we stop for lunch.
- In the afternoon, we will explore the Old Quarter on foot. After visiting a typical tube house and
- Dong Xuan Market, we will walk to Hoan Kiem Lake to see the statue of King Ly Thai To and Ngoc
- Son Temple.
- The free time in the afternoon allows us to explore the Old Quarter further at our own pace.
- This elegant district of Hanoi offers a wonderful shopping experience and boasts a huge variety of excellent restaurants and entertainment venues.
- We will collect our luggage from the hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight.
