The Alps

The Alps are a mountain system spread across four countries in the middle of Europe; the Swiss and French side is the part of that system that has been made most accessible. What really marks the region is less the scenery itself than the way it is reached: rack railways, cable cars and mountain trains make everything above two thousand metres visitable without walking. This infrastructure has been running for more than a hundred years and works as a ski region in winter and as a walking and scenery route in summer.

The season decides what the programme will be. June to September offers green valleys, lake shores and open mountain passes; the whole network of cable car and train lines runs in that period. The winter months bring snow-covered views, but some of the high passes close and the route narrows to the ski resorts.

Our programme in this region is a route compressed into five days, with transport and activities settled in advance: cable cars, mountain trains, a boat trip on an underground lake and dinners are included in the price. The hotels you will stay in and the places you will visit are known by name before the tour.
